Artist's impression of the interior of a Wates house, done up in a rather fabulous 1960s scheme. Wates built a large number of houses on estates. The company used their knowledge of pre-cast concrete to develop high-rise and low-rise industrialised housing systems and built over 60, 000 houses and flats using these techniques after the Second World War
