Wedding gift to Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon
A mantelet of ostrich feathers, presented to Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon by the farmers of South Africa on the occasion of her marriage to Prince Albert, Duke of York at Westminster Abbey on 26 April 1923. The mantelet was made of the finest quality feathers specially selected and made up in Paris in a shape somewhat similar to that of the mantle found in the tomb of Tutankhamen
