Wedding of Margaret Whigham & Charles Sweeny

An Unforgettable Wedding. The marriage of socialite Miss Margaret Whigham to American golfer Mr Charles Sweeny at Brompton Oratory in February 1933. The wedding drew enthusiastic spectators to the point that traffic was stopped for some time. The bride wore Norman Hartnell and among the guests are Lady Milbanke, Mrs Peter Thursby, Lady Warrender, Mr and Mrs William Garthwaite, Mrs McCorquodale (aka Barbara Cartland), Mrs Cunningham-Reid (formerly Sylvia Ashley, sister to Edwina Mountbatten) and Cecil Beaton (although it doesn't look like Cecil!)
