Wembley Stadium, as viewed from the air. The main track events and the official opening of the XIVth Olympiad took place here, as well as the finals of the football and field-hockey, fencing, gymnastics and the Prix des Nations. The marathon also began and ended there. The platform at the far end of the stadium is in position for the Olympic torch
