Westminster Bridge, London lit by lime light. Invented by Sir Goldsworthy Gurney in the 1820's the light was so intense it could be seen 95 miles away, though as it worked on the principle of burning (and therefore storing) oxygen and hydrogen gas together, it was potentially lethal. His invention was eventually refined into the less dangerous Bude light, used extensively in lighthouses
