Miss Margaret Mary Damer Dawson, Chief Officer, and Miss Mary Sophia Allen, Chief Superintendent of the Women's Police during the First World War. The Sketch magazine, which features their photograph remarks that, It is obvious that at all times, whether in war or peace, there is ample scope in every great city for the work of women police, especially as concerns the comfort and safety of women and children in busy throughfares
