WWII - a mobile British restaurant

A mobile British restaurant, made available to villages and hamlets too small to have their own communal feeding centres. For Emergency Food Vans were used to transport food prepared in Civic Kitchens, and to sell meals by the roadside in many parts of rural England. The food was carried in special containers to keep them piping hot for three to three and a half hours. According to The Sphere, in the past ten months nearly two million meals have been served from these vans in various parts of the country. Picture shows a van in the rural Essex village of Stebbing.
