Sympathy: a sketch at the Lodge gate, Camden Place, Chiselhurst. Scene at his mother's home, the Empress, who sought refuge in Britain with her husband Louis Philippe in 1848. The prince was killed by Zulus while on a reconnaissance expedition towards the end of the Zulu war. His death was treated with much sentimentality in the press
