Assassination attempt of king Victor Emmanuel III

An unsuccessful attack on Italy's king Victor Emmanuel III in Rome 1912. He reigned as King of Italy from 29 July 1900 until his abdication on 9 May 1946. The Carriage was between the Doria and Salviati palaces, when a man, who had been standing at the palace entrance, stepped into the road and fired a revolver point-blank at his Majesty. The first two shots missed but a third wounded an officer of the escort. The criminal was a man of twenty-one
