: Beatification of Joan of Arc, St. Peter's

Beatification of Joan of Arc, St. Peter's

A ceremony for the beatification of Saint Joan of Arc in St. Peter's Cathedral, Rome. Beatification is the process of the Catholic Church posthumously recognising a person's entrance into heaven - for Joan of Arc, this was a subject of considerable debate prior to 1909 due to various doubts including her attempts to escape prison, and questioning her purity
