British and Norwegian bases in the South Pole. The routes taken by Captain Amunsden and Captain Scott. The Norwegian base was on the Bay of Whales, the British Base was at Roberston Bay. Captain Roald Amunsden from Norway led the first successful expedition to the South Pole in 1911
