Sir Thomas Lipton on a yacht

Sir Thomas Lipton (May 1848- October 1931) on board his steam yacht Erin'. Preparing for the Challenger of the America cup on the sailing boat Shamrock II, in which sailing boats race in New York City, he did not win. The America's Cup, the pinnacle of yachting, was first contested in 1851 making it the oldest trophy in international sport, predating the modern Olympic Games by 45 years
