William Hedley's engine
William Hedley's engine, 1813. Listed in RE Bleasdale's Locomotive Engines catalogue, entry 1259. Long held at Crag Head, Newcastle and photographed there in 1881. Since removed to the Museum at Edinburgh [according to Bleasdale]. Hedley's were arguably first locomtives of really practical every-day use. Taken for Stephenson Centenary
