The Cage'. The prisoner has to stand on his toes to relieve his neck or suspend himself from the neck to relieve his toes. His crime was of the most revolting type. He had murdered a little girl, mutilating her... to secure [her] gold bracelets and bangles'. People were forbidden to minister to his wants with even a drop of cold water
