Spinning Cotton'. The woman's right foot turns the large wheel which rotates three upper spindles. These spin the cotton, act as bobbins, and reel the thread as it is spun. The photograph shows the winter dress of the labouring class'. The ample hood of brilliant coloured cloth is in use for children all over China
