Jun. 06, 1957 - Turbo-Prop, Jet-Tip Helicopter Under Test: With turbo-prop engines on stub wings providing forward propulsion and with pressure jets at the tips of the rotor blades providing upward lift, a new helicopter is being built in Britain for flight this summer. Called the Fairey Rotodyne, it will be capable of carrying 48 passengers at speed of up to 170 m.p.h. over stages of 400 miles.
