Aug. 08, 1973 - The Thames Oyster Smack Race. Seventeen vintage boats, not one of them built in this century, today competed in the Thames Oyster Smack Race, starting from Gravesend and finishing at Cherry Garden Pier, about a mile below Tower Bridge. The race, which is organised by the Fishmonger's Company on behalf of the Shellfish Association, was won by A.D.C.
