May 05, 1968 - Trials of Go Anywhere hovercraft Cushioncraft Limited, the pioneer hovercraft builders of St. Helen's Isle of Wight, are holding trials of their new ten-seater whisper jet go anywhere hovercraft. This machine, the CC-7, was developed with Ministry of Technology support and is powered by 390 h.p. marine gas turbine. The craft is designed to meet the world wide need for a low cost (under 30, 000) amphibious hovercraft quiet enough to work right into the heart of densely populated areas. Outstanding features of the craft are its fan jet propulsion which does away with the noise and safety problems of whirling airplane propellers, the very positive steering and control obtained by deflecting the propulsion air jets and the inflated hull side structure which enables the craft to be reduced to truck bed size for road transportation in a matter of minutes. This unique feature also makes the CC-7 readily air transportable or handy to stow on the decks of cruise ships or naval vessels.
