Dec. 12, 1970 - Around The World In 80 Days - To See The Difference: The man who worked with Ian Fleming on the Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang book, arrived in Regent Street, London today, to complete a trip round the world in 80 days. He is John Burningham, and he completed the trip nearly a century after the journey made by the fictional Mr. Phileas Fogg in Jules Verne's novel. Mr. Burningham, arrived at Mr. Fogg, 66-Regent Street, after having left London on October 3. His round the world tour has taken him through Cyprus, Turkey, Kenya, India, Thailand, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, Tahiti, Mexico, Canada, and the United States. He has been gathering material on how the world has changed in 100 years, for a book to be published by Jonathan Cape to celebrate the centenary in 1972 of the original Around the World in 80 days'. Mr. Fogg in Regent Street is a complex of bars and restaurants based on the adventures in the Verne tale. The decor evokes the different countries visited and the various modes of travel used by the first Mr. Fogg.
