Aug. 08, 1964 - The James Bond Author Dies. Ian Fleming Has Heart Attack: Ian Fleming author of the famous James Bond Spy stories died suddenly today in the Kent and Canterbury Hospital following a heart attack. He was 56. Mr. Fleming was educated at Eton and Sandhurst and later went to Munich and Geneva Universities. Photo shows Ian Fleming seen when he appeared at the Law Courts when he was sued for alleged libel and copyright infringement in November last year
