Jun. 06, 1961 - Mrs. Riley Takes Protest To Buckingham Palace.. Mrs. Doreen Riley (43) of Withington, Manchester arrived in London to protest to Sir David Eccles the Minister of Education - because planners want to lop 22ft, off her garden to extend a school playground.. Sir David Eccles was not in - and so Mrs. Riley went to Buckingham Palace to deliver her protest to the Queen - but the policeman on the gate said he could not accept to protest - which was addressed to H.M.
