Nubar Gulbenkian after court case with BBC, London

Jul. 28, 1962 - Bearded Oil Tycoon Gets Damages - And Bill For Thousands In Costs: Bearded oil magnate Nubar Gulbenkian, 66, won22 damages from the BBC yesterday. With a wilting orchid in his lapel, he said: It will not materially alter my standard of living. But what will, though in a small way, are the thousands of pounds in costs he will have to pay for bringing the case against the BBC in the High Court. He sued for a telerecording of an interview in which he made disparaging remarks about the trustees of his millionaire father's 5 million foundation to charity. Eighteen months ago, he refused a BBC offer of 105. The judge ordered that the BBC could keep the recording. Photo shows Nubar Gulbenkian after the verdict yesterday
