Jul. 01, 1981 - Romans Play Director sent for trial: Michael Bogdanov, director of the National Theatre play The Romans in Britain, is to be tried at the Old Bailey ona charge of procuring an act of gross indecency, Mrs Maty Whitehouse, the anti-pornography campaigner, is bringing a private prosecution under the Sexual Offences Act, She claims that a scene in the controversial play showing simulated homosexual rape was gross indecency. Mrs Whitehouse has decided to bring the prosecution after her request to prosecute under the Theaters Act was refused by both the director of public Prosecutions and the Attorney General.
