Rudolf Schock, German operatic tenor

Sep. 09, 1980 - 65th birthday of Rudolf Schock.: On Sept. 4th 1980 Rudolf Schock will celebrate his 65th birthday. The famous opera and concert singer was born in Duisburg. He was six years old, he sang in the children's choir of Duisburg. He was taught by Pilken in Cologne and Hofer in Hanover; he got his first engagement in Duisburg. The Dutcher station of his great career: 1937 - 40 Staatstheater Braunschweig. (1940 - 1943 military service), then shortly at the Berliner Operettenhaus (1944 again soldier). After the war Rudolf Schock first was engaged at the Opernhaus Hannover, later he went to Berlin. He was one of the first German singers who after world war II got a guest contract at the London Covent Garden Opera Since 1951 he is guest singer in Vienna, Hamburg and Munich as well as at the Stadtische Oper Berlin. At the Salzburger Festspiele he was singing 1948, 1951 and 1954, 1949 he made a tour through Australia. 1951 Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen; 1952 Edinburgh-Festival. 1954 Rudolf Scheck got the Austrian title of Kammersanger'. 1961 he received the Goldenen Electrola-Ring 1963 the Marcator-Medalle of Duisburg, 1967 the Goldenen Bildschirm and 1968 the Goldene Schallplatte mit Brillanten
