Taxidermist stuffs African bull elephant for museum
Feb. 20, 1976 - February 20th 1976 - Taxidermist solves a jumbo sized problem. Taxidermist Rowland Ward of Crawley Road, Wood Green, London, knew they had a jumbo sized problem the day they received the hide of a 40 year old African bull elephant which had to be stuffed for the Royal Scottish Museum in Edinburgh. Now, eight months later, the reassembled elephant, weighing one and a half tons, and measuring 12 feet to the shoulder, had to be winched up by crane through the roof of Rowland Ward's workshop, which had to be removed for the occasion.
