Trooper Sprigge sentenced for desertion in Palestine

And the escort jumps into the van which will take Trooper William John Sprigge, Royal Armoured Corps, to jail for four years. Trooper Sprigge was sentenced at a Chelsea court-martial yesterday for desertion in Palestine and stealing an armored scout-car, a Bren-gun, and ammunition. He was also given a dishonourable discharge. It was alleged that he joined Jewish illegal forces, that he gave them the car and arms. He said that armed Jews forced him to leave the car.
