Apr. 19, 1957 - Traditional Good-Friday British Marbles Championships At Tinsel Green: The traditional good Friday British Marbles Championships were held today on a circle of turf on the forecourt of the Greyhound inn at Tinsel Green, a hamlet on the Sun sex-Surrey border. The match, which is over 350 years Old, is reputed to have started in the Elizabethan days - at the time of the Spanish Armada threat, when two young man competed for the hand of the village beauty. Photo shows Harry Lang ridge, of the Tinsel Tigers, three times individual champion, in play during the championships today
