Apr. 19, 1957 - Traditional Good-Friday British Marbles Championships At Tinsel Green: The traditional good Friday British Marbles Championships were held today on a circle of turf on the forecourt of the Greyhound inn at Tinsel Green, a hamlet on the Sun sex-Surrey border. The match, which is over 350 years Old, is reputed to have started in the Elizabethan days - at the time of the Spanish Armada threat, when two young man competed for the hand of the village beauty.
