Jul. 07, 1955 - Pace Men Britain's Royal Air Force is being fitted with the Hawker Hunter, British jet fighter that broke the world speed record (now held by the U.S) in September 1953 at 726.6 mph. The Hunter has impressive striking power as well as speed; its four Aden 30 mm guns with automatic ranging radar bring over eight times more high explosive to bear than fighters with four guns of 20 mm. Performance details under operational conditions are still secret.
