Ursula Heisinger, journalist, with crocodile for Berlin

Mar. 31 New animals for aquarium of Berlin and Dusseldorf. A rare freight yesterday on May 28, 1958 by plane was arriving at the airport Dusseldorf-Lohausen, a crate with four living crocodiles, which a Berlin journalist was carrying home from Brazil for the aquarium of Dusseldorf and Berlin, Miss Ursula Heisinger, who herself captured these animals together with some Amazon Indians, for some time was living in the Amazonas district. During the night the animals are dazzled with a torch, the eyes then are shimmering purple red and from the distance of the eyes it is necessary to recognise the length of the animal, a wrong estimation may be fatal. Gripping it round the neck and the tail, it will then be put into the boat. Of the four crocodiles two will stay in Dusseldorf and two will go to Berlin. The animals are about 1 to 1 l/2 years oid and 40 to 60 cm long. In about 15 years they will reach a length of about 5 metres. Our picture shows: Miss Heisinger with one of the crocodiles.
