Liverpool Illustrated - Lime Street
A magnificent view of Lime Street, Liverpool in 1877 with St. George's Hall on the left, and the North Western Hotel, Alexandra Theatre on the right. Beyond both can be seen the Wellington column in the background. Horse drawn carriages and trams add to the busy scene and in the foreground a group of mixed group of adults and children watch a Punch and Judy show. Several figures within the group attest to Liverpool's cosmopolitan population due to its maritime activities
