Reformers Meeting, Hyde Park, London 1867

Government banned the Hyde Park demonstration, saying it was illegal, but the League countered that the ban itself was illegal and posted posters to this effect on 1 May. The government backed down. Eventually the crowd of several thousand ascended on Hyde Park, London. Reformers: Edmond Beales, The O'Donoghue, Mr. Odger, Mr. Lucraft and Colonel Dickson and others addressed the crowds during the great meeting. Police assembled near the meeting in case of rioting
