Stanley Baldwin Broadcasts 1924

The first use of radio by party leaders in a general election: Mr Stanley Baldwin reading his address to the public into a microphone at the London headquarters of the BBC. Mr Asquith and Mr Ramsay Macdonald also made use of broadcasting speeches to listeners throughout the country, though, Mr Macdonald did not broadcast well, owing to his oratorical devices of raising and lowering his voice, turning from side to side, and striding about the platform at various distances from the microphone
