17th Century map of the County of Hampshire, England
John Speed's map of Hampshire 1610 is very attractive. The county of Hantshire, as he names it, is has its coastline on the British Sea'. The map is flanked on one side by coats of arms of Earls of Southampton and on the other by those of the Earls of Winchester. There is a town plan of Winchester with a key to sites. There is a description of the wars in 1141 between Maud, Empress of England and her cousin Stephen Earl of Boloigne
