John Speed had to use quite a small scale to fit this map of the county of Lincolnshire 1611 onto the sheet. On the left side are the coats of arms of the Earls of Lincoln, vignettes and commentary of two battles fought and the town plan of Lincoln. On the right is a decorative strapwork title cartouche with a compass rose, dividers and scale
