17th Century map of the County of Northumberland, England
This border county of Northumberland 1611 like the others, contains no hundreds. John Speed marks Hadrian's Wall as The Pict's Wall, he also names all the castles in the county. The two town plans shown are those of Barwick and Newcastle and there are illustrations of four inscribed Roman stones as well as the coats of arms of the Earls and Dukes of Northumberland. This is a most attracive and interesting map
