17th Century map of the County of Surrey, England
This is John Speed's county map of Surrey 1611. Unlike his other maps in this collection, there are no town plans. In the top right and left hand corners above the coats of arms of the Earls of Surrey are illustrations of the palaces built by Henry VII and VIII at Richmond and Nonsuch. The first became Queen Elizabeth I favourite residence. This is a very interesting and attractive map
