Mrs Charles Sweeny (1912 - 1993), formerly Miss Margaret Whigham and later the Duchess of Argyll, who has, according to The Sketch, never looked lovelier in her new fan dress'. Debutante of the year when she came out in 1930, Mrs Sweeny was rarely out of the society magazines. She divorced her first husband, an American golfer, in 1947 and subsequently married Ian Campbell, Duke of Argyll. Their bitter divorce case was a sensation of the 1960s and earned the Duchess notoriety
