An Interpretation of the Nativity

This picture of the Nativity scene has been painted in the Persian style because of its location in the Middle East, the area of the Holy Land. It is surrounded with a border containing flowers. The baby Jesus is pictured lying in hay with his mother, Mary, to his left and his Earthly father, Joseph to his right. In the background there are animals and an angel appearing to three shepherds. The dog in the picture was copied from a Persian manuscript
