Blackburn YA.1 Firecrest RT651
Blackburn YA.1 Firecrest RT651 at the 1947 SBAC Radlett air-show, parked next to the first prototype Boulton Paul Balliol VL892. Designed to fulfil Specification S.28-43 the Blackburn B-48 Firecrest, (given the SBAC designation YA.1), was a single-seat carrier-borne strike aircraft, developed from the Blackburn Firebrand. Two prototypes were built, but no production was carried out as the piston-engined Firecrest was soon out-classed by potential turboprop powered aircraft like the Westland Wyvern
