Botkins's Submarine Chelmi
This submarine is referred to as Botkin's Submarine and it dates to 1901. Apparently it is the brainchild of a Russian inventor named Alexander Botkin, built in the Baltic shipyards and transported to Vladivostok, from where it operated. How much the Russian military was involved in this project is unknown. In fact, very little information on this small sub is available. The Officers posing with the sub appear to be Royal Marines, or possibly Czechoslovak Legion officers, which suggests that this photo was taken ca 1919, in Vladivostok
