English Electric Lightning F.1 XA847

Royal Air Force - English Electric Lightning XA847, at Farnborough, October 1958 for the Lightning naming ceremony, performed by the Chief of the Air Staff, Marshall of the Royal Air Force Sir Dermot Boyle. With him on the rostrum was Sir George Nelson, English Electric Company chairman. XA847 is towed out of the hangar after the ceremony, accompanied by a Royal Air Force Band. (note: XA847 was the prototype P.1B and never became an F.1)
