de Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk G-AOSU (msn 0217 - ex RAF WB722) at Newcastle Airport. In 1977, this aircraft was in the process of conversion to the Supermunk prototype, powered by a 180hp Lycoming engine, at Staverton when work was stopped. Bought by the Royal Air Force Gliding and Soaring Association (RAFGSA), along with jigs, tooling, paperwork and rights to the conversion. OSU was completed and a series of further conversions were carried out by the RAFGSA, for use as glider tugs at RAFGSA clubs
