The sole Miles M.71 Merchantman U-21 (msn 6695), at Woodley aerodrome, with stored unwanted Miles M.33 Monitor target-tugs in the background. First flown on 7 August 1947, with the B- Class Registration U-21, Number 6695 was allotted the Registration G-AILJ and demonstrated at the 1947 S.B.A.C. Show at Radlett in September 1947. Miles went bust in 1948 and the Merchantman was unceremoniously scrapped
