Mitsubishi A6M7 Reisen
Mitsubishi A6M7 Reisen (msn 23186, allied reporting name Zeke), on display at Willow Grove Naval Air Station ca1957. This Mitsubishi A6M7 was built by Nakajima Hikoki as their 43rd Model 62 aircraft and was assigned to the Yokosuka Kokutai. After the war it was captured at Misawa, a testing facility operated by the First Naval Air Technical Bureau at Yokosuka Airfield and transported on USS Barnes (CVE-20) on 3 November 1945 along with other Japanese aircraft to the United States, where it was tested as FE-322 and later as T2-N322. After tests were completed it was displayed at Willow Grove from 1946 to 1962 in natural aluminum finish. In 1962, it was acquired by the National Air and Space Museum, and then in turn, sent to the Bradley Air Museum in Connecticut for restoration, but storm damage to the museum prevented this. The aircraft was then loaned to the San Diego Aerospace Museum, where it arrived dismantled and in boxes in March 1981, before being restored there
