Built as an F8U-1 and converted as the YF8U-2NE proto Type in 1961.Converted to XF8U-1T proto Type, re-designated as NTF-8A in1962.First flight at Dallas, TX, on 6 February 1962Assigned to Naval Air Training Center as 710.To Test Pilot School as 710, 1970-1975.Bailed to NASA for tests at Langley AFB, VA.Used for introduction flights for the Philippine Air Force.Crashed near NAS Dallas, TX due to engine trouble on 28 July 1978.Remains possibly sent to the Philippines for spare parts
