Badger hunters outside Plough Inn, Pyecombe, Sussex

A group of badger hunters and their dogs outside the Plough Inn, Pyecombe, near Brighton, Sussex, under the auspices of the Badger Club. The terriers were assembled under the leadership of Captain Huth, the Master. Their first draw was made at Newtimber Hill where a badger was soon located, the diggers set to work and after six and a half hours of strenuous labour the badger was unearthed and found to be the second largest of the season, topping the scale at 29 lbs
