The first National Lifeboat Institution lifeboat at Walton-on-the-Naze, launched in 1884, was donated by and named after The Honourable Artillery Company whose Drama Club sponsored it. During its service from 1884 to 1900 it was launched 84 times and saved 132 lives at sea
