Emile Lowitz demonstration at Royal Botanic Society

Mr Emile Lowitz giving a scientific demonstration of his new process to an audience at the Royal Botanic Society. It involved a black cabinet, some wires and a humming dynamo. He explained that the germination of seeds could take place in fifteen minutes by putting them in earth between zinc and copper plates and exposing them for ten minutes to a current of 80 volts. Then for five minutes the current was increased to 8000 volts, and the seed by that time had begun to wriggle and squirm when looked at through a microscope
