Freedom of St Albans for Andrew Carnegie
Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919), Scottish-American industrialist and philanthropist, accompanied by the American Ambassador Whitelaw Reid and Mrs Whitelaw Reid, received the honorary freedom of the ancient city of St. Albans on the occasion of the opening of the public library erected by Mr Carnegie's generosity.
