General view of Braemar Highland Games, Scotland
A general view of the Braemar Highland Games in Scotland, showing Braemar village. The games were attended by King George V and Queen Mary. In 1906 a site close to Braemar village centre was donated by the Duke of Fife of the Mar Estate for permanent use of the Gathering. This site, named The Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park, is where the Gathering continues to be held today. After this donation an entrance fee to the Gathering was charged to allow for the upkeep of the ground
